US Immigration – 5 ways to live and work in United States
Article
Many people from different countries from all around the world seek the great opportunity of being able to live and work in the United States of America for better living standards and opportunities. The best possible solution to this problem is perhaps, immigration. US immigration has been in the go for as long as any great historian of the US can remember but it was drastically increased since the industrial revolution due to the economic shift of the world and uprising job opportunities in the United States of America. So, the Supreme Court decided to make a law for immigration to control the rate of immigrants entering the country and prevent illegal advantages and harm to the country, hence the “Immigration and Naturalization Act” was formed. As reported by the Department of Homeland Security, 484,072 new entries were made in the US in the year 2012.
In this article five main ways of how to live and work in the United States will be briefly discussed. These five ways are:
- Temporary Visas
- Sponsorship by Family
- Sponsorship by Work
- Au Pair and of course
- The “DV Lottery”
1. Temporary Visas:
These visas can be attained through various methods but are mainly work or study visas. These are obtained for a certain purpose and a specified amount of time after which they are preferably renewed following required procedures. A certain individual who possesses a temporary visa is not a permanent resident of the United States and must abide by certain restrictions.
2. Sponsorship by Family
Another method of immigration to the US is “sponsorship by Family”, if a family member is a legalized immigrant than he/she is enabled to sponsor you for legal immigration to the United States of America via a formal procedure which has to be followed in order to freely work and live in the country.
3.Sponsorship by Work
Many green card holders have obtained their green card by their employer. If you work for an authorized company or organization for a specified period in a certain specialized area than you are able to get sponsored by your employer for legal immigration to the United States.
4. Au Pair
An Au Pair is mainly for young female candidates who get paired with host families who live in America and they can gain experience by taking care of these families and are able to live with them in their homes. Through this program the candidate obtains a J1 visa which is a temporary visa. The time period is usually a year but can vary depending on the host family.
5. The “DV Lottery Program”
The DV Lottery Program also known as the Green Card Lottery program is a program initiated by the government of the United States of America in order to diversify the rate of immigration in the United States. Under this program, each year approximately 55,000 applicants are selected for legal immigration to the US as green card holders.
The entire process, being online is quite easy and time saving. This is by far the most convenient and efficient method to be able to live and work in the United States as it grants, with great ease, the winning applicants their very own permanent resident car i.e. the green card and enables them to live freely as legal and authorized permanent residents of America. Also, the winners are fully guided through all procedures with the help of American immigration experts, without any additional fees.
